"I received a cryptic message," she tells him, "that urged me to come and jump in the Abyss. I don't mean to take offense at the suggestion nor do I wish to blindly follow it. Is such a feat even possible?"

He looks at her thoughtfully for so long that Wren's not sure he intends to answer. Finally he says, "Yes, it's possible. It's not something we do lightly. There are many strange... things to be found in the Abyss. Sometimes you find nothing and are lost forever. Others have reported vast expanses of darkness, perfect realms where everyone is like a god, and everything in between.
You would need a guide, an abyss diver. Most are half-demons. You'll see why. They are very expensive." Pippin: Are we lost? Merry: No Pippin: I think we are Merry: Shh. Gandalf's thinkin' Pippin: Merry? Merry: What? Pippin: I'm hungry |

"I have the feeling," Wren replies, "that I'm looking for someplace specific. I was given a charm that I suppose will in someway guide me. Can you arrange matters for me and two others? I'll also need a secure exit for when I return."

"It can be done as you request," Morphis says. "Depending on where you want to go, it could be expensive. They'll probably want a favor that you probably won't want to grant. This had better be really worth it to you."

"Thank you," Wren replies and rises to leave. "Trump me when things are arranged. I have to go." She heads back to Amber until she's in trump range and then tries Gareth.

Wren and Morphis return to his ways. "Not going down immediately after all, Princess? In that case we can settle our accounts now."

[A joint post..]
"Not quite yet," Wren answered Morphis. "I have one more thing I want done. The method my cousins used to get into the Abyss, can it be severed?" "Of course," the Chaosite replied. "Treachery so soon in the game. How very like Amber." "Not treachery, incentive," she said. "Gareth is rather reluctant. Whatever, whoever wants us down there, I'm sure there's actually a good reason for the truth to come out. I'm sure the reasons won't be compelling enough for him." "Of course," he said with a smile and rang for a servant. "The connection can be restored later when I want to let them out, can't it?" Wren asked. His smile broadened. "For you, anything. It will be done." A servant entered, of some race of Chaos: it was mostly human. "Sever the cords for the descent I'm sponsoring. Leave the demons in." The servant bowed and departed without a word. "You've drawn yourself quite a large tab, Princess," Morphis said. "I do hope you can cover it." "Name it," Wren said evenly. "Like the favors you requested, it comes in multiple parts. First, I should like a fragment of the Eye of the Serpent. I believe you possess one. Second, I shall need some of your blood and hair. For the third part I shall need a trump card of yourself and your father - which you have touched and he has touched, respectively. The last part will wait until the other three have been completed." "That's a bit steep," Wren said sharply. "Consider our positions. I would hate to see your kinfolk lost forever in the Abyss," Morphis answered. "I think my fee is quite reasonable, wouldn't you agree." She favored him with a glare. "I will find the things you ask. When I have all three, I'll return." "We could take care of all but your father's trump now, couldn't we?" Morphis asked. "I'm keeping the shard I have," Wren answered. "I may need it. I'll find you another. Since you listed your desires in order, the rest will, logically, have to wait their turn. Good day or whatever it is you say here." "Good Turning," he replies, "is what we say here. Truly I wish you such." Morphis escorts Wren to the Earth Gate and sends a bodyguard to make sure she is safely seen beyond the realm of Chaos. Pippin: Are we lost? Dexter is indeed at the Court of Amber, with his companion. She is the very watchful type and Wren will have to be careful and clever to get the stone from Dexter.

Wren studies them for a while. Do they share a bed? Does he carry it with him? Is it a matter of common knowledge?

No. Maybe. Apparently not. Dexter does appear to be most vulnerable at night since he's alone. Of course that is the most obvious time. Dexter obviously has a secret the others know about. It's likely that it is what Wren wants. She'll find it easiest to try elsewhere. Otherwise, post an attempt.

Rather than find out yet if Dexter was a mistake, she asks him what he knows of where he last saw Dworkin.

Dexter takes Wren out into shadow to where he saw Dworkin last. Aidora tags along "for your own good," as she puts it to him. They arrive at that shadow to find a fortress, hastily constructed of wood, blocking the road toward their destination.
